African Hunting Ballistics Information |

Shot distances are generally not more than 150 yards, maximum 200.
You will be hunting in savannah bushveld area, which means that chances are good that you might have to shoot through some grass and perhaps even bush.
As a good all-round calibre, the 30.06 would be number one. However other calibre's that work well here are: .338, 375 HH, 35 Whelan, 7 mm or 300 Win.Mag with a heavy bullet, perhaps even "slowed-down".
We have had bad experiences with Ultramags and 300 Weatherby's. Various bullets
disintegrated on the shoulder of the animal without entering the engine room,
because they are simply too fast.
We recommend Barnes X and Nosler partition bullets for the "slower" calibres
and ONLY Trophy bonded Bear claw bulllets for the 300 Weatherby Magnum.Magnaported
or recoil reducers mounted on the barrel are NOT recommended
You are allowed to bring a maximum of 80 rounds per rifle. Make sure that you have a sturdy case for your rifle during the journey, because of the rough handling at the airports.
Your rifle will be sighted in before the hunt.
