We offer hunting, fishing, photographic and Big Game Safaris.

Okatjuru is a family business run by Jochen and his wife Ulrike together with their son Mario and daughter Tara, at their beautiful farm in the Hochfeld area of Namibia. Jochen who, after completing his military service and studies, joined his father as a professional hunter fifteen years ago has since become one of Namibia's most respected names in hunting. He is involved in cheetah conservation and is striving hard to get the current status of the Cheetah upgraded so that foreign hunters can import the trophy back home.

The hunting area is situated in north-eastern Namibia, 80 miles from Windhoek International Airport. There are 25 000 acres of our own property (of which 13 000 are game fenced) and another 100 000 acres of concession land available for hunting. The landscape is fairly flat with many large termite mounds. The vegetation consists of Savannah grassland with high camel thorn trees and other acacias.

The most common game species found here are Kudu, Gemsbuck, Hartebeest, Warthog, Steenbuck, Duiker and Cheetah, which are all free ranging. Other species native to the area and also available are Zebra, Wildebeest, Eland, Springbuck, Roan, Impala, Giraffe and various others.

The physical capabilities of the hunter will always be taken into consideration when planning the hunt, on most hunts we cover between 5 and 10 miles on foot. The terrain makes for fairly easy walking, however ankle-covering boots and trousers are recommended to prevent irritation from grass and thorns.

 

Although we take every precaution possible, we recommend that you should be fully insured against accident and material loss during your stay with us. Our area is generally malaria-free and the water is potable and pleasant to drink.

We are members of Med Rescue (an emergency air rescue service) in cases of severe illness or injury.

We recommend a stay of between 8 and 14 days, depending on how many of the twenty available local game species you would like to hunt.

Accommodation consists of thatched bungalows with all the comforts, including a swimming pool to cool off and enjoy during our hot sunny days. Guests can arrange for game drives and can also enjoy viewing game in their natural state at waterholes from blinds. Our pet warthogs and our two lions "Dingaan" and "Shamu" are added attractions and will keep the family occupied while you are out enjoying the hunt.
